The Carthage College men's soccer team completed a sweep of the 2016 CCIW regular season and tournament titles Saturday with their second straight CCIW Tournament championship, defeating Wheaton College, 2-1, at Art Keller Field. The win also gives Carthage the CCIW's Automatic Bid and guaranteed berth into the 2016 Division III Men's Soccer Championship.

"We have gone undefeated in the league before and won conference championships," said head men's soccer coach Steve Domin, "but this one feels good because of the amount of work and traveling we have done with such a young group. Tournament and regular season Championships take great talent, some luck and a huge sense of want. This group has time and time again come back from the many doubters, deficits, adversity, and each day someone else picks us up."

These College of Engineering students work hard and dedicate long hours on top of their classes to be a part of the esteemed Iowa State College Football Varsity Marching Band.

The incoming group of new students includes approximately 737 freshmen and 83 transfer students. They come from 17 U.S. states and seven foreign countries and territories. It is the most diverse class in Carthage history.

The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced Wednesday, September 7th that Carthage College Lady Red Casey Frommer has been named the first CCIW Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the 2016-17 season. Frommer, went 5-0 for the Lady Reds this past week at St. Norbert and Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Seventy new students are currently enrolled and attending Lakeview College of Nursing for the Fall 2016 semester.

The Dean's Award for academic excellence is awarded to students with a 3.30 or higher term average.

Augustana College announced 913 students were named to the Dean's List for the 2016 spring term. Students who have earned this academic honor have maintained a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a four-point scale for courses taken during the term.

Ohio Wesleyan University held its 172nd commencement ceremony on May 8, 2016. The OWU Class of 2016 included 390 spring, summer, and fall graduates, with 65 cum laude, 43 magna cum laude, and 20 summa cum laude honorees. Members of the Class of 2016 received their diplomas May 15 at the 195th Colgate University Commencement. Robert D. Manfred Jr. P'16, the commissioner of Major League Baseball, delivered the keynote address.

Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., held its spring commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 22. Eric Christian Olsen, an actor, and Paul Olsen, Augustana professor of English and head men's cross country and track and field coach, delivered the commencement speech as father and son. Around 530 students participated in the ceremony.

Over 3,000 students earn Dean's List honor

Local residents among the more than 900 bachelor's and associate degree recipients at The University of Scranton's undergraduate commencement, which was held May 29.

Bucknell University has released the dean's list for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2015-16 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean's list recognition.

A total of 833 students have been named to the Carthage College Dean's List for the Spring 2016 semester.
